I have failed to update this blog for a while so I have taken to taking notes on the things I watch/play/read as I go. This has helped a little bit with flow.

Books

I am still reading The Brother Karamazov. I think I am finally “getting” it. I have got much more used to the writing style and I think that has finally allowed me to appreciate it much more. I have been writing notes as I go, and I think I might need to watch a video essay or read around the book a bit more at the end but I am now enjoying it.

Movies

I have only watched three movies in the last few weeks. I am surprised how long this is taking to make my way through as this was the primary reason I started this journey. I think this is due to wanting to be as focused as possible when watching films and I am realising how little time I give myself to focus on one thing.

Kill Bill was good fun. Was visually awesome and a lot of the different shots were amazing. I am definitely sure I missed some of the homages/parodies but was still enjoyable. I found some of the sound design jarring however and some constant noises were quite annoying. I wanted a little more story though, but I believe the drip feeding is definitely on purpose.

Back to the future was a re-watch as I have seen it many times. I always think it is a fun film. I love Christopher Llyods performance though this one has slightly less of him than the others. I love the music and the “coolness” factor of the film. The story is fun but you could pick holes in it if you thought about it too long. Just a good experience for me, and a little bit of a comfort film in general

I also watched Psycho which I had seen some iconic scenes from but had never seen the whole way through. It was great, even with its age. Due to its age, the acting is a bit camp, but I still found it quire fun. The suspense was still good, especially following Marion at the beginning. It really helped to build up the initial suspense for me. I did think there were some cool shots throughout which I also liked a lot. The sound design was great, Hitchcock is really good at that and it was exemplified by this film. I thought Anthony Perkins as Norman was really good, better than I could have expected, I think his best actor nomination was deserved for this.

Music

Not a lot of movement here. Not too much of note, though some enjoyable songs. Curtis Mayfield’s album was good fun and the somthing/anything album from Todd Rundgren was good. I have listened to so much in Todd’s genre though that I found it hard to differentiate his music from others around those times, in that genre.

Games

I am actually going to include this as another post as I have two games to go through. Reviews are here
